About the Analysis of the Data
- 1. I need my Survey results in an Excel work sheet, how do I proceed? Just execute
the App called "Rotator OLAP Analyzer" installed on this PC, log into your Survey and then
select "Document/new". Select the option "Mass tabulation" and follows the steps indicated
to create the report. Once created, just click on the little "ray" icon at the top menu to
query the data, then select "Document- Save as" and select Excel (XLS).
- 2. I'm a basic user. Do you provide any pre-built reports and charts? Just execute
the App called Rotator OLAP Analyzer installed on this PC. Create a new document and
select "Default documents".
- 3. What advantage do I get with "Rotator OLAP Analyzer" vs. SPSS? There are several
advantages, firstly the Analyzer is already integrated to the Modeler, in other words, it
can analyze data without importing it, and secondly, the Analyzer is very easy to use and at
the same time is more specialized in Surveys than SPSS is. Nevertheless, remember that you
can export your data to SPSS or Excel whenever you want.
- 4. Why do I have to leave the Modeler and then enter into the Analyzer to see the results
of my survey?Rotator is not a single application, but a set of applications with
specific functionality. Modeling and administering a survey is one thing, but analyzing it
is something very different, don't you think?
- 5. I need to do a Cluster Analysis, an ANOVA or a multivariate analysis, how to
proceed? Each survey has its complexity and its specific requirements, Rotator tries
to cover most the user needs, however in your case perhaps it might necessary to export your
data a statistical software package in order to satisfice that specific requirement. Rotator
only covers the descriptive statistics, since it represents 95% of the needs of our users.
How do I import external data into my Survey?
If the variable you need to import does not exist in your model, go to the step "Questions" and
create a new question. Set it "Invisible" if you do not want to modify your questionnaire. Jot down
the variable code created, and write this code on the column header of the Excel sheet you need
import. Now go to the top menu of the Modeler and execute the option Import data from Excel.
Remember that in order to import external data, that data must be encoded according to the choices
codes defined in your model.
If the variable you want to import already exists in your model, simply write down the code of this
variable, and place this code in the header of the column of the Excel sheet you wish to import.
Now, go to the top menu of the Modeler and select the option Import data from Excel. Remember that
in order to import external data, the data must be encoded according to the choices codes defined in
your survey.
About Rotator
- 1. Is Rotator multi-user? Yes, Rotator was designed so that all modeling and
processing of the survey can be done collaboratively, as it happens in real life. Every user
within the survey has a specific role that allows him/her to get access to certain parts of
the system.
- 2. What are the operation modes of Rotator? Rotator can operate in three ways 1)
"Stand alone", i.e. in computers isolated such as SPSS or Excel. 2) "On a Network", in this
case, the survey is shared on a LAN and users can access it concurrently, and 3)
Virtualized (or on a Terminal Server) so that the survey can be accessed by users from
remote locations.
- 3. What is the name of the Database Engine that Rotator uses? As SPSS or Excel,
RotatorSurveys uses its own database engine; this is called Rotator and is based on a
proprietary technology called FOLAP (Formula Based OLAP).
- 4. Is Rotator scalable?Yes, the software has been designed to have no limits in
questions, variables, choices, cases, users, etc. However the larger and the more complex
the survey, the more hardware and/or network bandwidth will be required.
