Rotator Survey Kiosk Station

Welcome to the Rotator Surveys Kiosk module. We are pretty sure that your experience with this software is going to be friendly and productive. The use of this software is very easy; however follow these tips to get a better understanding of the Kiosk Surveys process with Rotator.

How to design a Survey for a kiosk?

The administrator use a software tool called "Rotator Surveys Modeler" where he create the questions and define skips that control de flow of the interview. This process is called "Modeling" and basically consists of: (1) Creating questions, (2) Defining the flow of the interview and (3) Creating users with the role "Kiosk Supervisor". At the end of the modeling process, the administrator proceeds to "compile" the survey in order to detect possible problems and create the database to contain the survey.

Preparing your kiosk for the Survey
  • Install the software module called Rotator Kiosk Surveys on each computer that will be used for the survey. (Use the setup exe file downloaded from our Site).

  • If the kiosk PC has access to a LAN, move the surveys folder to a Server computer and share it, so it can be accessed by the kiosk PCs. (We recommend you to map the shared folder as a network drive, for example using the letters: R:, Z:, etc

  • In case the kiosk computer is isolated (There is no LAN), copy the survey folder to the kiosk computer using a common path, for example /My Documents/My Surveys.

  • On the kiosk PC execute the icon called Rotator Kiosk Surveys. Now proceed to connect the survey by clicking the option Add a Survey to the list.

  • On the screen shown, click the Search button and search for the surveys folder, open it and select the file with the .mo extension, which contains the surveys model you are going to work on. At this moment your survey will be connected and shown in the available surveys list.

  • Double click on the desired survey and enter the LOGIN and PASSWORDS assigned by the administrator.

How to answer a Kiosk Survey
  • Just click on the icon Start survey and start the filling process.

  • Proceed to read each question while you give answers to the question using mouse and keyboard, or padding the screen in case you are using a touch screen device. The system willguide youstep by step throughout the questionnaire.

The Kiosk data collection process
  • Once all the surveys data has been collected, the Administrator will execute the application called Rotator Surveys Modeler and will proceed to consolidate that data on the step DATA for its further processing and analysis.

  • If the kiosk PC does not have a LAN connection, you should export the data, creating a file with the ".DAT" extension and send it back to the Administrator by any means. The Administrator will proceed to import it into his/her PC by using the option "Import data" located in the step DATA of the Activity 3.

Requeriments of the Survey Kiosk Station:

It is possible to use ATMs or kiosk hardware, but you can set up a kiosk using just a common Windows PC. A LAN (Local Area Networks) will be required on each kiosk to get access to the surveys shared folder. For long surveys or for multiple kiosks located in remote locations, you may virtualize this application or execute it on a Terminal Server.

  • Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 or or higher, or equivalent.
  • 32 GB MB RAM or higher.
  • 300 MB of Hard Disk to install the application and additional space for the models being created (A common model completely loaded may require 100 MB).
  • 27'' Monitor (Desirable).
  • Windows 11, Windows 10 o Windows Server from 2012
  • Internet connection.
  • Printer to print the paper questionnaires if PAPI mode is required.

Kiosk Station:

The Rotators kiosk implementation is ideal for remote locations where Internet connection is non-existing or is poor, like: conference rooms, public parks, streets, open events or any other place where subjects gathers together. Survey may vary from product tests, political polls, service satisfaction, measure of organizational climate, etc. Remember that kiosk surveys do not require an interviewer. Before thinking about implementing a Kiosk, you may want to explore other options such as PAPI or CAPI using offline devices.
